A week ago. I purchased a 55" LG OLED and an LG UP970 uhd bluray player. I agree that 4K is spectacular.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how good HD Netflix and Cable look but am amazed at how great Ultra HD content looks. I debated between a 55 and 65 but decided on a 55 for my 9 foot viewing distance. It was a great upgrade for my home theatre. |

Nice TV, unreal black levels. I looked at the OLED sets, but I went with a 75 and they were above my price range in that size. Check out the 4k HDR YouTube content it's amazing.

I just moved into a new house and ordered all new TV's. It was a tough decision between LG and Sony, but ended up going with Sony. I had a hard time deciding what was the perfect size, because I do not like a TV that is too large for a room.
Here's what I ended up getting: Living Room - 11ft. viewing distance 65" Sony OLED 4K HDR XBR65A1E Master Bedroom - 10 ft. viewing distance 55" Sony OLED 4k HDR XBR55AE1 Guest Bedroom - 10 ft. viewing distance 49" Sony HDR XBR49X900E

Got a new Sony XBR65Z9D to replace my Pioneer Elite Plasma, Pioneer was better.

Yep, they were legendary. They ran so hot though.

They do run hot, but i'm about ready to pull the Pioneer out of the back room and start using it again.

I got used to my LG 4k already. I take it you are not happy with the Sony so far?

If I stay with it i'll probably get use to it, but that's not a rousing endorsement.

Give it a chance. I tweaked my LG picture to the point I am satisfied and 4K really is incredible.

Keith, That's like saying you'll get used to a BSR turntable after having an SME or VPI. Just not the same. I've found the mid-tone rendering and true black levels of even the best LED/LCD panels don't come close to plasma. OLED is still early days and will get better. Tom
