Itunes Radio a new tuner for your stereo
Now I know this is not a actual tuner but I have been really impressed by the sound quality of the itunes radio music coming from my mac mini music server through the MCD500 coax input using the halide bridge for background music while I read. Don't knock it until your try it

found this on the web: "Pandora has licensed only 1 Million songs. Apple has licensed over 20 MILLION songs. Apple has a huge amount of variety available for iTunes Radio.
iTunes Radio also has 280-300 kbps quality songs you can listen to for FREE. Pandora allows you to listen to 64 kbps songs for free for limited amounts of time. And Pandora charges you $40 a year to get 192 kbps quality songs." Last edited by 1KW; 11-02-2013 at 06:47 PM. |

Bill.......I subscribe to the premium MOG service and have been very satisfied with the sound and their library of music. I use Sonos zone players to stream to both of my sound systems.

Another MOG fan here, streamed through a number of Squeezebox products and idevices. I tried Pandora and Spotify but found MOG to have the best overall sound quality (most music is 320) and the best classical selection. I haven't tried iTunes Radio yet, I'll have to check it out.

Yes, a quasi double blind test, but you can like any service you want be it MOG or something else. Still, this casual experiment just may provide some insight and more knowledge (in audio) through experience. Note: There was a great disconcertion that Spotify wasn't giving it's 320Kbps Ogg Vorbis (not MP3 or AAC-LC). However, Spotify has released statements, a few years ago, declaring that their library catalog has been updated to 100% 320Kbps Ogg Vorbis to meet customer demands. (For the technical its "q9" quality setting) Additionally, What is Ogg Vorbis? Ogg Vorbis is a new audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats. It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented. More here Vorbis.com: FAQ Last edited by o0OBillO0o; 11-03-2013 at 09:24 AM. |

I am also moving with the times (ie: eschewing analogue radio) and am picking up a Micromega Aria AirDream soon which will enable me to seamlessly connect to my ITunes library & ITunes Radio via my Iphone. I was really surprised by the quality of the sound in my Dealer's showroom, enough to swing me from an Accuphase T-1100 to the MM!
