The meaning of V letter in the Accuphase production.
Hello,
I'd like to know what is the meaning of the letter V in some versions of Accuphase production, especially for poweramp. I could advance a hypothesis, namely that the V-version since 1990 had been equipped with the finest potentiometer from Matsushita and having thus sets to benchmark of developments towards the most precise control of signal Voltages. I could say that V stands for voltage. Am I right? Many thanks. Last edited by Descartes; 09-24-2013 at 01:31 PM. |

Dear Descartes,
I am not sure what V stands for but it is a good question. But I noticed V designation is given to the old products which has gone thoroughly updated. I think V is the short form for "Version Update" as Japanese calls it. They re-released the old model with V designation for the newer version. If you look at Accuphase Product Museum, the C-300 was released in 1973 and the updated C-300V version was updated in 1987. I am 99% sure that it does not mean voltage but I could be wrong. :-) |

Wherever the V letter came from, it just mean the MK2 - upgraded model. The V model has always been a follow up to the non-V model.
The V letter was added to CD players, preamps and poweramps. |

What megasat16 said makes sense, it probably mean just that.
Similar to what Esoteric is doing with their updated models, usually designated as VU (version update). *Cool avatar Descartes |

Many thanks to all for your appreciated answers. Only to say that probably V letter could instead for "Verified".
