Well I had a chance to have a good two hour listen to the Marten Coltrane Supreme IIs last night. I have to say that I have never heard the Blue Coast Music SACD which was playing through an Orpheus SACD, Audio Note UK M10 Preamp with the two massive Galahad power supplies, Analog Domain power amps sound so real and wonderful
There was no overblown bass or trumpeting or harshness you sometimes find with the flagships which are often too large for the rooms they are demoed in. Now that the Supreme IIs are single towers they should be amenable to more rooms Definitely a pipe dream speaker here but one of the best I have ever heard. Well done Marten. Btw, the smaller pair of speakers in the photos are the same as mine, the Coltrane IIs. |

Great set up howiebrou! What location in the world are this pics from?
I'v been listening to Marten Coltrane Supreme II some times, with different electronic's and in different rooms. Recently I Listen to them in Martens demo room with MSB mono's, new MSB diamond select, Jorma's latest and best cables, Gigawatt power conditioner and Entreq's ground products. This is the best music reproduction I'v ever heard, no doubt. It's so clean and natural. The energi comes there it should be coming. Some big systems makes everything grow to gigantic proportions. As if the guitar is 2 m wide. This system makes everything sound in the right proportions. Smal and sublime then it is and big powerful when the musik is like that. This set up is the best I'v heard with this speakers and this speaker is the best I'v heard in the world especially in this room. For those who heard them in Ces and Munich hi-end show can expect more actually. No doubt, the MSB mono blocks does a good job. They cost in this matter not a fortune but sounds like it. One other aspect of the improved sound is that Marten makes a big effort to deal with power pollutions. These makes a bigger footprint in the sound the better system you'v got. Her are some pics from my latest demo at Marten. MSB: Entreq: Jorma Statement: The small speaker in the speaker that holds the diamonds: Sorry that the focus is bad. Wrong lens this time. __________________________________________________ ___ This speaker can sound like this if necessary. I just have to share this thunderstorm from Corsica with you. It started like this: Clouds building up. Sunset! And then it powered up... Don't forget to disconnect your system... before.

Not so much spying this time...
Marten has got a knew reference system. It's so great that I just have to share it. Analoge Domain (German company) looks great and sounds even mor fantastic. I must say this is the best I ever heard The Coltrane Supreme II. And the best matched Marten system jet. This must be the the best resolution there is. It seems like nothing is held back in the music. Everything gets through. The most subtle macrodynamic gets room to breath and it makes the music so alive and real. With this knew set up, the system also have a little bit more warm presentation than before. I like that. Even more macrodynamic. Voices are almost scary real. When the singer starts to sing, you almost jumps upp your chair and wonder were he/she is. It easy stands out alone an the floor in the listening room. The drums punches you in the breast more like it does in a live performance. The lower frequencies are very detailed and controlled. This is a really "true" system. They are big. Here are the parts that helps you move them. Leif Mårten Olofsson. Analog Domain Athene 2KW mono. Rui Borges Ultimo II turntable, Swedish Analog Technology, Ortofon MC Anna pickup, The reference system: Marten Coltrane Supreme 2, Analog Domain Athene 2KW mono. MSB Select DAC with preamp. MSB UMT Plus transport, dual PS, Aurender X100. Rui Borges Ultimo II turntable, Swedish Analog Technology, Ortofon MC Anna pickup, Whest Audio Ref V MK IV monoblock phonostage, Jorma Statement and Prime cables, GigaWatt PC-4 EVO och PC-3 EVO SE Power Conditioner.

It is interesting you mentioned the system sounded warmer than with the MSB monos.
I have the MSB monos, and they and thay are definately on the warm side of neutral. One of the warmest sounding amps I had at home. Very Class-A. Much warmer than the Vitus SM-011 monos I have on loan right now. The voices are so present and palpable that it is almost scary. Is it possible that they had made some other system changes (like cables etc) than the amps itself ? |
