Buzz coming from my ML Grotto
Plugged in my Martin Logan grotto sub to augment my 2-channel setup for a movie the other night. After the movie I noticed a buzzing sound coming from the sub. Unplugged it and it was gone. Anyone else experience something similar? Where to start trouble shooting?

Sounds like a ground loop - happens frequently with powered subwoofers. Try using a cheater plug that does not have the ground prong and see if it goes away. Also, try plugging it into different outlets, or the the power conditioner that the rest of the equipment is connected to.

Thanks for the suggestions. It could very well be a ground issue. It's an old house, and I'm not at all sure that the electrical is up to par. I'm going to get a tester and see what's up. I may even get an electrician in to run dedicated lines.

Hi Pider,
I had the same problem with my ML Depth, as well as a few amplifiers. I found the cause to be a new halogen lamp that would trigger the buzzing in the transformer. Putting the lamp on another circuit cured the problem ! Good luck ! Guy |

Thanks, Guy. I'll try all sorts of things, including taking it to another location entirely.

Or a dimming switch or cable etc.
By the way, how do you like the Grotto? |
