Ella Fitzgerald - Like someone in love
Analogue Productions SACD Recorded in '57, and fantastic sound. A pity there are strings here, but hey, Ella shines through!

Continuing those fantastic '66 sessions...
Sinatra at the Sands
Count Basie & the Orchestra, arranged and conducted by Quincy Jones What a difference in sound! We need a MoFi remaster on SACD from this. The music is worth it. The monologue isn't, so rather a CD than an LP, so that you can easily skip it.

Neil Cowley Trio - Spacebound Apes
Hide Inside Records [CD] A slight venture away from "Touch and Flee". Still some of the delicate piano, but there is a harder sound to some of the tracks on this album. If you are a fan of the Neil Cowley trio, I suggest you check it out. My picks from the album are "Grace", and "The Sharks Of Competition" they demonstrate the extremes of this album. |

Ben Webster, Tete Montoliu Trio - Gentle Ben
Analogue Productions [R2R] Breathy tenor saxophone that seamlessly integrates with the trio. |

Quote:
The Stan Getz credit caught my eye. Not just: 'Tenor Saxophone: Stan Getz' but rather: 'The sensitive, poignant tenor saxophone solos were by Stan Getz...' Unfortunately for Ted Nash, it seems as if they're accusing him of just phoning it in when compared to Getz' contribution. |
