I was traveling from my hotel in El Paso to Juarez listening to NPR. I had turned it on shortly before the second plane hit. My wife called shortly after that.
I had a 3 1/2 hour wait to get back into the US that evening and I did not try and cross until near midnight.

I saw the photos earlier today pn AOL's home page. We can thank ABC News for their tenacity. ABC News was handed 2,770 photos, many taken from police helicopters, after filing a Freedom of Information Act request with the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The government really didn't want to release the photos.
Never forget what happened that tragic day.

Just like people remembered where they were when Pearl Harbor was hit, or when Pres. Kennedy was shot, I remember I was at work, when someone stood up and said a plane just hit the World Trade Center.
We turned on a TV in a conference room, and 30 people stood and watched in horror as the 2nd plane hit. My wife lost one of her first cousins in that mess, and a person who worked for me at the time, lost his brother. God Bless those poor souls who lost their lives in that attack, and the families left behind.

I was working in a remote part of Montana... went in for breakfast and everyone was in the bar where the TV is instead of the restaurant...
A sad day, and a good one to remember. Life is short. PS. I don't have TV so I thought this was going to be spy photos of a new Porsche coming out...

I was working late at work that morning. The thing that really stuck with on my way home that morning was how quiet it was outside. I live northwest of O'Hare Airport and with all flights grounded it was really quiet. Then out of no where there came the noise of a pair of F16 fighters instead of an airliner making it's approach. Something not usually seen especially flying that low. They were the only thing in the sky making a slow sweep to the northwest.
