Try the 30 day trial of Roon I think you will like it and it will get rid of the "full frontal push" you object to. |

I have found no reason to move on from Tidal. There also must be some variability in what gets shown on the Tidal "Suggested" screen because I do not see Rap/Hip Hop being pushed at me. In fact none of the first 50 albums I see are obviously "Rap".

I have been using ROON for a few years and have the lifetime subscription. I guess I am simply a curmudgeon. I look at the Top Hits list from Tidal (on ROON) and find nothing of interest. I look at Tidal rising and rarely find anything of interest. That doesn’t disconnect me from Tidal, it just shows I am disconnected from the majority of its customers. IMG_2742.jpg To your original question, I have both and can’t decide which to keep. I don’t need both.

I’m sure you’re right, streaming isn’t going anywhere, but I’ve had albums I liked disappear from Tidal (although not from Qobuz yet) because of licensing issues. Also my rural internet connection isn’t always reliable. So for me, there’s still value in owning the music I love.

Quite a few albums have indeed disappeared from the Tidal catalogue. There was a 5-CD box set from Count Basie for example (never been on Qobuz) that I loved a lot. I still have it downloaded on my iPhone fortunately.

I have had Qobuz for a couple of months now and never seem to use it. It could be that I am just in the habit of listening to Tidal MQA. Qobuz did sound very close to Tidal and vise versa. I did think Qobuz sounded better than I thought it would. I will be getting rid of Qobuz since I don't believe that I need both services. For really serious listening I still prefer CD's and SACD's.
