Well, I really wanted to try PMC, and should have made more of an effort to do so before getting the F140s. I was able to hear Spendor and ProAc, all of which seem to have come out of the BBC heritage. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't wait to hear your comparison when you are able to audition the PMC.

Much as I respect PMC speakers, I don't agree Dyns are colored, at least the ones I've heard: S3.4s, C2 and C4s (have not heard the "Special" models").

Also, Borderdog mentioned several times to you that getting S25s to work effectively and musically would mean getting your house, er, room in order.

So, how is the room coming?

Also, you've been through a lot of gear pretty fast in the last little while. If I may make a recommendation, I would not buy anything in the way of speakers without auditioning them first-hand.

Anyway, enough of Dyns as this is the PMC thread.

OT: What did you ever decide to do with the McCormack RLD-1?

Room came slowly PC; to the point where I was without my system for a few weeks or even a month...and still not "done" (I'm a terrible DIY'er, so there were some inevitable set-backs...lol). I had an adult decision to make: keep the gear out of theroom for another few weeks...or however long it took to finish; or postpone the work, and get back to listening for now. Is it obvious which I chose?

I sold the RLD-1. Very nice pre, but I chose to stay with the Belles 21a.

Trust me, I'd love nothing more than to hear some PMCs. I'm in Maryland; want to take a look at the PMC website, and see where the nearest "dealer" is...lol

You owe it to yourself to hear PMC speakers. Their transmission line technology is totally different than bass reflex and sealed designs. There is a reason why many major recording studios around the world use PMC speakers.

Yeah...but my point was, the closest dealer is about 3 hours away. OTOH...it is right by my brother. Maybe make a day of it?

All kidding aside, yeah, make a day of it.

I agree.
And maybe due to the success of PMC in the recent years, more and more companies are now adopting the transmission line bass system and companies that made only sealed or bass reflex speakers before that.
Rega high end RS10, Jean Marie Raynaud Concorde....

I agree. I never heard a Dynaudio sounding colored to me. They are very faithfull to the source.
Years ago, I listened in a bad room and with a bad set up, a pair of Dyn monitors ( don't remember the model) driven by a Sphynx integrated amp and cd player. We played only Keith Jarrett recordings. I know them by heart, and as Keith loves France, I have seen him in concert quite a few times. The little Dyns were giving these recordings full justice and the piano sounded incredibly real.
I think that Ian must think that PMC's are even more faithfull, and here I agree too.
