Oil paintings (inexpensive)
Wanted to share a source for oil paintings in case someone wants to decorate. I got tired of paying some ridiculous mark ups at the various furniture stores and galleries for oil paintings which I do like. I found a site which offers oil paintings of your liking (they have many to choose from and do replicas of most famous works) and they do a very decent job. Of course one should not expect an exact replica but to the untrained eye... It is definitely good enough. I've ordered quite a few to decorate my new place and both I and my wife are happy with the results. Hope this helps and give them a try.

Thank you Dan. I have mentioned it before in one of the threads I believe. Yes, it's been two happy years since we got married.

Have you received it yet and does it look good?

I have a total of 5 paintings now and they all met my expectations. Again, don't expect perfection or a true replica. They look good for an oil painting but for the money you are not going to get all the master strokes and fine detail the original painting may have had, especially considering you get to choose the size of the painting and some very fine details just may not be possible to reproduce from an original that was on a much, much larger canvas. If details are not important, I would say these are great for adding some decorating touches to a room/wall and especially if you are familiar with the artist and particular work and it brings you pleasure to have a copy in your own home.

Here is an example. I like Haywood Hardy and his horse/equestrian work. I wanted something for the basement wall over the fireplace. Below is what they advertised for his "The Gameskeeper's Daughter" and what I actually got. I was happy and it looks great over the fireplace.

I am obsessing over the James Buttersworth reproductions. My only concern is if they dont get those clouds right. Must get. Must buy.

They probably won’t get it exactly right and neither should that be expected. On the other hand, chances are you can’t buy the real one but at least you’ll have a painting that looks close to it on your wall to enjoy daily.

Very cool website!
Bit disappointed that they don't offer works by Picasso (I'd love a decent scale "Guernica"), or Dali... |

Here is another one I ordered and received for the dining room. I like it.
