Just returned from seeing Avatar in 3D at the movies.

I am not a big sci-fi fan at all but I must say I really enjoyed this movie. The story line is a bit weak but all in all it holds together pretty well. The special effects are very well done. The 3D effects are restrained but add to the whole experience and at times give it a holographic experience. This is a movie that should be seen in the theaters or if possible IMAX.

The previews look cool and innovative -- but I'm even passing on this one when it hits the DVD rental market. Just not interested.

I saw this movie Friday night.

I thought it was boring, and actually a few people left the theater, at different times during the movie.

Yeah the special effects are cool to see, but beyond that you better bring someone to elbow you when you start to fall asleep.

Maybe IMAX would be better.

I can't see this one coming across as well at home even with a 100" screen.

As I noted not the best story but the technology far exceeds anything that has been in the theaters to now. Some movies were made to be seen on the big screen. Unless you have seen Apocalypse Now in 70mm you haven't seen the film.

Very colorful and rich with special effects as intended. I wonder if they will recoup the cost of making the movie. Isn't this the most expensive movie ever made? Of course it's 90% CGI.
I thought it was ok, I heard rumors that the 3D version made alot of people sick. After viewing the 2D version Im wonder what makes the 3D version different, not many object shot towards you, maybe just for the colorful effects. And of course the story would include the "Tree of Life" story line. Is this going to end up in every sci-fi movie or end of the world theme. I know it was part of the story, I guess it's just getting old.

I saw this movie in 3D at the IMAX theater and thought it was one of the most enjoyable movies that I have seen in a long time . It has something for everyone, a love story for the wife, fantasy for the kids, special effects and great animation. Story was fun, somewhat predictable . Message is no matter how much technology and innovation we have you can't change basic human nature Great family picture. By the way the 3D was not overdone but it made the action scenes more believable.

I suggested to my wife that we give it a try in IMAX. I think the bigger the screen the better this comes off.

This one certainly has to be seen in 3D. Don't look for 3D gimmicks. Look for a chance to enter a 3D world. Look for how well Cameron has made 3D characters believable.

With this technolgoy, Cameron has proven that Gable and Leigh can now make a sequel to Gone with the Wind. Bogie can make another movie. Maybe even Fred and Ginger can dance again.

Hello

the movie was excellent and the 3D really drew you in. 2010 is going to be a great year for movies in 3D which is great. The shrek trailer looked really impressive too.
