Default USB display for K03X

Hi,

Almost broke my back, but I set up my new K03x in my system. Absolutely beautiful. SACDs and Red books sound incredible with 8fs and SDLY2 and will only get better with time. A couple of questions on USB though:

1.- I installed the Esoteric Driver (although instructions said I didn't have to) I use a mac mini. For redbook playback set at 8fs, what should I see on the display? Should I see the upsampled rate or the original one? I ask because I was playing from itunes and 44.1 files were showing as 384. I then moved to play from jriver 19 and input display changed to 44.1. I went to the MIDI settings on the mac and I noticed that for itunes I could change sampling rate for the Esoteric driver (e.g., 192, even though source files were still 44.1) and it would immediately change to match on the K03x display. So again, does the display show only the actual input or the upconverted rate? Is there anything indicator on the display that the upconvert and filters are on (other than checking them through the mode button?)

2.- Do I have to burn in the USB separately from the tray discs?

3.- How do i know that the k03x is using its own clock and not the mac's?

Thanks!!!!

1. Don't use the driver if you don't need to - it doesn't even work with Yosemite. I made the mistake of upgrading to Yosemite and then I had to wipe my Mini...ugh.
2. You will get a bunch of different responses here, so it's not a yes or no question.
3. I own a K-03 (non-X), and you have to make sure the display says it's using the HS_2 usb driver, but I am not sure if that's an option on the X version. Does the manual tell you if there are options for that?

My k01x displays the native file rate feeding it via USB despite using the 8x upsampling. I use Aurender X100 music server not a MacMini.

Thanks. I will keep it at Maverick 10.9.2. I do not see an option on the K03x that shows what kind of USB driver is using....I downloaded "Version 273.4.1" (ESOTERICUsbHsAudio-273.4.1.zip)...
