Sonya Yoncheva - Rebirth
Cappella Mediterranea
Qobuz 24/96

What a nice discovery.
First of all the voice: she ascends and descends with grace and control, warmth and emotion, and this through more octaves than most.
Second the choice of pieces. From renaissance till present. But all works go together so well.
Third: the ensemble does a great job, it's more than just supporting the diva.

Händel
Sonya Yoncheva
Academia Montis Regalis
, Alessandro De Marchi
Qobuz 24/96

I wanted to hear more from this delightful soprano.
This seems to be on the same high level.

I'd like to see her live once...

Listening to this recommendation from Kal - much more enjoyable music and playing, and more relaxed sound.

Schumann: Konzertstück for Four Horns and Orchestra, Adagio and Allegro; Saint-Saëns: Morceau de concert; Glière: Horn Concerto
Markus Maskuniitty, horn
Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Sakari Oramo, conductor
Ondine (2019), via Qobuz

This is a great recording. David Hurwitz says, “The Bottom Line: Don’t let this terrific disc pass you by. The Schumann, especially, is one of his most original masterpieces, and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic horn section, led by Markus Maskuniitty, plays it (and everything else on the disc) fabulously.”

Meanwhile, we're further exploring the Yoncheva catalogue:

Sonya Yoncheva - Paris, mon amour
Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, Frédéric Chaslin
Qobuz 24/96

She has quite a dynamic range, this lady.
Works from Massenet, Puccini, Gounod, Offenbach, Verdi, Messager and Lecocq.
Another good album of hers!

A Harmonia Mundi SACD, recorded in 2011

Playing the last piece of chamber music written by Franz Schubert before his death, The Tokyo String Quartet is exceptional on this recording, with the addition of David Watkin on a second Cello for the Quintet - they make beautiful music. Very well performed with wonderful sound by Harmonia Mundi.

Listening in 5.0.

Interesting Piece of Vinyl!
It is not just tube recorded, but is cut so You start the record near the label. This allows the louder passages to make use of the outer grooves for better Dynamics. And it works, fabulous recording on the Magnapans!
Tacet Records L207 (180 Gr.)

Jim
