Default Your favorite Mac amplifiers?

These types of threads just seem to become compendiums of all the amps a manufacturer makes. We are a diverse group and everyone likes what they have.

exactly... and frankly, were money no object, I'd have a 1.2KW Mono block setup... or frankly a D'Agostino mono block setup...

Truth be told, budget is the ultimate limiting factor, and there are probably a very view of us on here with nearly unlimited budgets. It's all relative.

A proper room should always be priority one and way before lofty goals of 1000+ Watt monoblocks and such.

I had my D’Agostino amps hooked up to speakers in one of my many rooms I had setup at one point and guess what, they were not better than a old school, 5x cheaper 10w Shindo tube amp in musicality. There is a place and a purpose for everything. That Shindo in turn was totally out of place in my other room with Wilson Alexia’s.

Driving a Ferrari in mud in no fun.. Driving a Ferrari on a track is a lot of fun, (especially when it’s not yours and you don’t have to worry )

Putting a system together is far from throwing together expensive components. I’ve heard some very expensive systems that made me cringe and my ears nearly bleed. I’ve heard and owned myself a few very budget friendly systems that I would gladly live with forever.

But we’ve had these discussions for decades on this as well as other forums. I don’t think they help much.

That works great in most of the country (or the world for that matter) where for 1.8 million dollars one can buy a luxury home on an acre of land... here in Silicon Valley, I'm living in a 1200 SF condo for that kind of money, and a house suitable for that would be north of $4-5M..

Context my friend... context.

Size of the room is one thing but treating the room is another.

We are talking rooms here....

A big reflective room is just as bad if not worse than a very small room.

Virtually any room can be totally transformed and some of our members here have done a beautiful job of it.

A small room can still have appropriate speakers and sound great. Your system is sounding much better than I have often heard in rooms similar size at dealers who have access to any tool but don’t care much. Keep at it and I’m sure with the latest acquisition, the in room response will improve further.

The long thread on the DG-58 in here (Accuphase sub board) focuses on the EQ room correction being something that brings you that last 10% of the setup, not something that totally fixes a bad setup... my setup is at 90%... I'm looking for that last 10%.

Once I get this thing, and Ivan tells me it will be before Christmas... I will report on the difference then. Until then, it's all theory.

Keep in mind Room EQ may flatten the peaks and fix some pot holes but early reflections and the resulting loss of coherence of sound are totally different issues. Acoustic panels to tame the reflections and the processor in your case and you will have a killer, coherent and smooth sound.

Exactly. If I had an unlimited budget I would have an C2700 with 3 pairs of MC2301s triamping a pair of XRT2.1ks.

It would be a beautiful system but I would go with a 1.25KW for the bass. Solid State makes for better bass.

Best
