Default Only a turntable, EAR 834P, and Amp

I'm after some input on a dedicated phono preamp with volume control. I had been using a EAR 834P for a few years. I sold it some time back, I wish I didn't. I'm wanting to set up just the turntable again and feel like there should be something better out there. I like the EAR 834P, it's small and doesn't take a lot of rack space, and sounds quite good. Any suggestions?

Well why not just buy another 834P -they're still available. They've been around a long time, so you can probably also find a used one if you wait a while. A friend of mine had one and I wasn't a huge fan but all that matters is that it sounds good in your system. Synergy trumps everything else.

But assuming that you've decided not to go down that path, perhaps you can share more details about things like budget and what else will be in your system. That would help people give advice. For example, do you want to use an MM or an MC cartridge? Which cartridge in particular? What amp and speakers? What did you like about the 834p sound that you'd like to recapture.

Musical Surroundings SuperNova 2. three inputs which makes it very expandable. Not going to run three tables? That's OK, maybe you have three different arm wands/cartridge set ups to swap in and out? Each input has it's own custom setting so going between tables/arms/cartridges a minor hassle.

Art Audio Vinyl One. I am using one now with the volume control. Very quiet and great sound. There is one for sale used online (not mine and no relationship to seller)
