Thanks for the link. Most entertaining.

Now that Art Dudley is gone (may he RIP), HR is my favorite reviewer. HR always uses several amps or preamps or speakers when doing a review so we get a good understanding what the piece under review may sound like in different set-ups. At least as much as that is possible from a review that we did not attend.
Doesn't HR have several "reference" speakers (0/93s, 2 pairs of LS3/5As, 0.7 Maggies & a pair of Klipsch Forte III and others I've likely forgotten)?

Oops - forgot Harbeth 30.1 (2?), KEF LS50, Zu Soul Supreme and small Dynaudio.

Custom finishes are a minimum of 6-month lead-time. As my dealer has them in stock, I went with the standard fiddleback mahogany finish. Same with the VAS amps. The waiting is due to my travels.
