This is true but where did the pressure come from to repeal the law? The pressure came from the drivers. Michigan similar to Kansas changed the law a few years back and saw a near 20% increase in fatalities. Accidents will happen, just earlier week I had to call the police on an abandons vehicle left overnight in the shop parking lot. Air bag deployed, front and side smashed in, with blood on the vehicle. It turned out to be involved in a fatal hit-in-run with a motorcycle over night. Most laws are created to protect us from ourselves and others. Too many people, in the pursuit of a thrill value their life too little MHO. But, they have that right. I'm not one of them. Give me a good song on a decent system and I'm happy.

I'm OK if you want to damage/kill yourself. I just object to having to pay for the results of the carnage with my insurance premiums & taxes.

A somewhat ghoulish attraction.
The 116 year old TT is held on public roads, hence no homologation by the FIM( who controls most European motorcycle racing). Racing on any public road in urban areas is inherently dangerous, just as racing on a racetrack. Ask the thousands who have crashed at Laguna's corkscrew. According to wiki 6 spectators have died at the IOMTT, 12 at Indy. Until covid there was street racing all over Ireland, Ulster GP, Northwest 200 were the biggies.Valentino Rossi ( possibly the GOAT of motorcycle racing)didn't even want to do a lap. It takes a special breed to want to race there. Impossible to practice as the race is run backwards to the direction of normal traffic.
