Thanks a lot Serge ! I have to print this.
Did you try Rothwell transformers ? They are not expensive compared to many other brands.

I have not Jerome. I think after Bob's Devices, the diminishing returns start to kick in hard but the EAR MC4 may still be one of the best out there? https://www.musicdirect.com/phono-pr...no-transformer

I think so, Jerome, but check with Bob Sattin to be sure; his transformers have evolved since I got mine in 2011.

I never heard any vinyl played as beautifully as this. I fall short of words to describe this sound.
Very similar to the first time I listened to Shindo. But more powerful. This is a "fleshy" experience. It seems to me that I am listening with all my body !

Is anyone using Koetsu's own SUT ?
I am not in a hurry to buy one. I have used various SUTs in the past. I have confidence in people saying that SUT's are the only good way to amplify a low output MC signal. Even my little Nagra BPS was using Nagra transformers for the MC carts.
But the sound of the Koetsu through the Cyrus Phono Sig is so good that I will take my time to buy an SUT.
I am not so sure that today some companies still do not know how to amplify a very low signal without a SUT.
Stephen...
Did you ever hear the CJ HV1-A pre preamp ?
Attachment 53721
Ha! Sounds like a Vermilion to me, Jerome!

This is why I said this cartridge was "endgame" for me.

No, never heard the C-J HV1-A. I went with the Bob's Devices SUT and was done.

So very pleased it worked out so well for you.

Best,
Stephen

They are, but there is something quite special about the Vermilion, in particular.

I am running a Jade Platinum through an Aesthetix Rhea Eclipse. I suggest loading the cartridge as low as possible. My Rhea goes to 75 which seems ALMOST low enough. I’ve tried the Jade on my McIntosh C500 which can load down to 50 ohms. On the McIntosh this is the best setting of course the Rhea + Koetsu is heaven.

Good luck and enjoy the music!

I much preferred the Hashimoto transformer to the CineMag. It was the dynamic contrasts plus realistic stage width & depth that I found totally captivating.

"A similiar comparison found "Putting the SUT-H7 into circuit in place of the CineMags, I was immediately confronted with explosive dynamics and more dynamic contrasts than I’ve frankly heard in any but the most high end horn systems. This was accompanied by wider soundstage and far more precise placement of instruments than I am used to. Surface noise was very low and pops and clicks were banished to virtually inconsequential on most of my records"

That explains it much better than I could [emoji5]
