Same here. Dead quiet. Only time I can hear any noise at all is when my high-gain phono tube stage is turned on and selected and the volume is turned up to 52.

Soundstage initially sounds a bit wider, not sure if that's just my quirky imagination or not. Bass as good or better than EH and GL. Detail good if maybe ever so slightly less than the stock EH and GL.

Anyway, since no EAT replacement anytime soon, I'm sticking with the Ediswan. The value difference between this $80 tube and that $200 EAT may be closer to $20 than $120, at least for me.

This is definitely within the realm of personal preference, in my case I'm preferring the Ediswan over the EH and GL. Thanks Puma Cat!

OBTW, I'm no tube historian, but it looks like some connection between Mullard, Brimar and Ediswan??
They're like old British motorcycle companies....Triumph, BSA, Norton!

Ediswan was the result of the merger of the U.S. Edison company (as in that Edison) and the U.K. Swan company...they combined to make quality valve, er, tubes. There is also a tangential relationship I think between Brimar and Mazda (the French tube company)....

The Ediswans are pretty sweet, huh? Pricey but sweet.

Glad they're working out for you.

shock of shocks ....my replacement EAT6922 shows up this week. I'd been running for a couple months with an Ediswan 6922 from Upscale and very happy.

Was tempted to just leave the Ediswan in and put the EAT on the shelf.

Well of course I did swap the EAT in. As upset as I'd been at having to wait 6 months for a replacement, that passed in about 15 minutes. I really really hate to admit it, but this EAT beats everything I've tried.

Looking back over the last 6 months, part of my problem has been swapping tubes around when clearly I was still in the tumultuous-teflon days. It's not so bad waiting the hundreds of hours, but, when 100 hours in the system sounds worse than it did after 10...it's a bit scary.. and if you happen to be swapping something else at one of those bad-teflon times...

So after all the smoke has cleared... I definitely like the Gold Lion, and I think the Ediswan is slightly better. Not that the stock EH is bad, but both GL and Ediswan beat it in my opinion. I could have lived just fine with either. but that darned EAT really is in a class by itself, unfortunately price-wise as well.

even the old run-the-volume-up to wide open with no input and listen for noise test... that darned EAT is quieter.

No but... In the GAT, I switched out the EHs for a pair of NOS Holland Mullards E88CCs and am very pleased. Sound is much more even, balanced and detailed. They are dead quiet as well.
