Don...congrats on your new kitty. Follow Stephens advice and you'll be fine and of course take Smoke to the vet. Cats are cool and make wonderful companions. You did a good deed by rescuing and now have a special friend. I have 2 inside cats and 3 that stay outside and all are rescues. They also make good listening partners and like most kinds of music. Keep us posted.
Dave

Hi Don
I keep reading about Smokey, and I've been following his progress. My wife and I have had cats for over 20 years. The first two died after about 18 years. My wife was heart broken when they passed. After about 6 months, I convinced her to go to the rescue shelter. After playing with every cat in the shelter, we picked 2 sister kittens, Honey and Sugar. (Those were the names the shelter gave them, so we stuck with them). Here's the rub, no matter how much I try, all of our cats have always gravitated to my wife. It seems that they know who's the good one in our family. I guess I know my station in our cat's lives. But I still enjoy ther playful loving ways. Hoping you and your wife will enjoy for many years. Herman

Congrats and on behalf of all cat owners (well, cat staff) and cats everywhere, thank you for doing this!
Puma has summarized in a couple of posts what it's taken me over 10 years of having a cat to learn. Good advice all around. And re: the brush - our guy LOVES to be brushed, and we got him started on it early. It's grooming but also a form of interaction and attention which he loves. How much? A friend was looking in on Bruno (Brunello) daily while we were on vacation, and decided to brush him until Bruno walked away. THIRTY minutes later, our friend gave up! But Bruno was very smooth. Good luck with the new additions to the family! |
