I have not listened to the KI-Ruby but have used the KI-Pearl and the PM-10 in my system. The PM-10 was very good but I currently use and prefer the Esoteric K-03x.

I hope you find something in your budget that you like.

I've had my Marantz KI Pearl player since 2013, playing very often and doubt I will ever sell it.

Perhaps one of the champagne reference SA players will fit the bill, nice examples show up often. GL.

Thanks, All!

My current thinking is to save my pennies & go for the SA-10 when I can. And if the new Luxman, or some other competitor, comes out in the meantime, I can always reassess.

It's a great player. I like the sound of it more than my previous Esoteric K-01x and Oppo UDP-205 and both of those are excellent, though they were used in a different system. The Marantz is richer, more engaging with heaps of detail.

Though I'm considering trying another integrated amp and SACD player to replace my Marantz, it's not because I'm unhappy with the Marantz in any way. If I sell them, I'd definitely consider purchasing the SA-10 again if I wasn't happy down the road with whatever I might replace it with. I'm considering a change just for the heck of it.

Christian (& others) - What do you think of the Bluesound Node 2i? I am considering it as a stopgap until I get SA-10. Just wondering if I would be disappointed by the sound quality if I use it direct into my preamp (using its own built-in DAC)?

Thanks!

That all depends on your expectations... The Bluesound Node 2i is a fine music streamer and for $550 it sounds better than most would expect. It does have its limitations though as it's built to a price point, so don't expect it to compete with a digital source at several times its price. Everything's relative.

I agree. The Node 2i sounds fine on its own plus you get full MQA unfolding and rendering using the analog outputs. I found the analog output to be fairly cable agnostic, too.
That said, I use the coax digital into the SA-10 and think it sounds pretty amazing.
