He went on to say that to say that only audiophiles with “incredible ears” can really tell the difference, but that this requires “very, very high-quality stereo equipment”.

I would have to agree with him, 98% can't tell the difference because of the systems they have.

(OK, that's a bit snarky. But I do think his quote is marketing propaganda from a company that has consistently promoted lo-fi. It's easy to tell the difference between lossy and lossless if a person is paying attention and playing music on a good system)

I read this thread with great interest as I too also want to upgrade my streaming capabilities. My current setup is a NUC/Roon running through my Oppo 205 as a DAC. I see many mentions in here of Uptone Audio EtherRegen, but it appears the mfg. has ceased production because of the worldwide chip shortage. Are there any alternatives that you could recommend to this. Thank you for your time.
