Wadax and JMF universal players are not in the same level with Pioneer Elite or Oppo, etc. The latter 2 are both fine brands and I've owned them both with great results. Any actual listening experience with the first 2 though will readily show they are on another, higher level. They also do not result in such a step away/down from top results. Opinions and sonic impressions clearly vary by person so this is IMO.

So Ivan, is it true you're a dealer????
Yes, but when you hear the price; you may lose interest very quickly. Current USA retail is $45K.

Ah, but our friend Cleeds didn't specify a budget, and it's our solemn responsibility as AA members to help him spend his resources, and relieve him of any stress involved in depleting his retirement savings.[emoji41]

I have a couple of Samsung and LG players that might fit the bill.

Honestly, I think your ‘all in one’ spec means something on the low end of the market - cost wise.

Sorry. But when I finally got a good streamer… all that spinning went out the window. My streamer sounds the same on red book CDs and usually better because of the 1/2 million albums on Qobuz in high resolution formats.

I may sound like a newbie. But I have tried to get digital to sound equivalent to analog for decades and unsuccessful until until a couple years ago… no way (I couldn’t afford a $200K digital stack). But now, streaming or spinning or file playing is competitive with analog. Granted there is a little edge to analog… but not much. But spinning, file playing, and streaming can have the same sound qualty… but streaming gives you access to a whole new world.

The difference between spinning and streaming in sound quality can be zero… but access to music is nearly infinite … making spinning all nostalgic. I stream 90% of the time… and frequently streaming sounds better than analog… sometimes not… since I upgraded my analog end to equivalent in cost.

I would set your goal on streaming… it can fundamentally change your life. Same fantastic sound quality but an infinite library. I almost never listen to the same old stuff sny more. A whole new world!

I understand your enthusiasm for streaming, which is something I also enjoy. But streaming won't replace my LPs, tapes, CDs or DVDs.

I think Qobuz is the best of the streaming services, but it's amazing some of the content it doesn't have.

This isn't an either/or thing. But Masterlu's suspicion is right: the JMF transport is a wee bit out of my price range.

Wrt convenience, and depending on the % of your library that's CD, you can get an awful lot of what you want in a Naim Uniti Core at about $4K

I already have the gear and processes to rip, store, and play music. What I'd like is a dedicated drive that could play any 5-inch digital disc (CD, SACD, DVD, Blu-Ray) to an outboard DAC. I'm not interested in bells and whistles and streaming and multiple inputs. Just a mechanical drive.
