Before you buy a bunch of $50 180g records learn about which ones are from digital and which ones are from tape. Makes a huge difference.

I mentioned this in another thread...how can one find out the different pressings and know what's good and what sucks? There's no definitive source online, right? So it's all hit or miss

Best you can do is check websites like Fremer's Analog Planet.

To offer a different opinion of digitally sourced records I figured i would way in. I have found that it is more about the mastering than the sourcing. Case in point Stones DSD vinly, some are very close to the original analog pressings I own. Also MOV Alice in Chains SAP. I am an analog guy all the way and would prefer an all analog chain, but with new records the mastering is WAY more important than the source(assuming 96/24 or better digital sourcing).

I agree. AAA is the goal but just because the source is digital does not mean the vinyl is pointless. Mastering is the key. I own many digitally sourced LPs that sound great. Of course, I also have purchased a pile of junk sounding digitally sourced vinyl. Purchasing new vinyl is a crapshoot and it certainly pays to check the forums.

Congrats on your new VPI Classic! beautiful table. Killer value. I have a newfound appreciation for the C2300 phono stage, its very, very good and IMO better than expected. I have now done extensive comparisons between C2300 moving coil stage and the Zesto Andros phono. I have recently come to the conclusion that there is no real discernible difference! The C2300 is THAT good. My Zesto is switched off and will likely be sold. That's a $4300 phono preamp ----- speaks to the incredible value of the C2300 preamp. The only caveat is that the tubes in my C2300 phono are IMO better than those in the Zesto but that's probably splitting hairs. I am running pair of Tesla E83CC 12ax7 in the C2300 versus quartets of stock JJ, Gold Lion, and Psvane in the Zesto.
