Well, I've had the MC462 for just over a month now, and I'm still enjoying it immensely.

As I noted previously, it sounded great out of the box. Now that I've had it for a month, I'm not sure that I'm hearing any difference - and I'm saying that in a good way. It sounds great. I'm not convinced that it really needed any time to break in. What I thought was slightly subdued bass was simply me not playing the system loud enough. The gain and the input sensitivity of this new amp are different than my old amp, and it took me a little bit to figure out the proper volume setting on my pre-amp.

Other than that, I would say that there are two differences from my old amp (which I loved) that get my attention:

1) There just seems to be something a little extra special in the mid-range - particularly noticeable to me with voices and piano notes.

2) As you lower the volume on the pre-amp, it stays just as musical. The bass won't slam as hard (naturally), but the music is still sweet to the ears.

I do not listen that loud. Maybe when I was younger but at 72 my taste in music has changed and what I like does not need loud to enjoy.

I like the turntable setup you have. The stereo shop near me has that turntable, which is too convenient to have 5 miles away. Especially at happy hour 🤫
My thought was to purchase the 462 amp and put the money toward that record player you have with the moving coil. Although I still have two other record players that work well, they’re my 1978 pioneer and technics turntable which I had re-built, but still I have my eyes on that McIntosh turntable you have. Which I would play my new records on the moving coil Mc turntable and use 45 year old records on my technics. The wise decision is to get the 462, because at higher volume levels I can’t imagine going any higher and I’m playing my preamp at 75% to 80% volume at the most when play certain rock songs such as ZZ Top or Black Sabbath. And I don’t want to stress out my speakers either if I had those 611. I do listen at moderate levels 80% of the time when my wife is home.
So, now my wife is at work today. I have no chores to do except for jam it loud!

I really love the MT2 and it performs well from my perspective. I did upgrade the cartridge to the one that comes on their MT10. It is similar to the Clearaudio Talisman I understand but without the boron cantilever.

That cartridge sounds nice.
I’ve noticed you have the 611.
Curious, Why did you change the MC462 to get the MC611’s.

If you ask my wife she would say because he is goofy. I admit I have no excuse other than I always wanted mono blocks in my system and there was no time like the present. They are superb. I must admit that I am addicted to large blue meters..!

Well, I am in agreement with you. I took the 462 back to the stereo shop. I liked it but I think after reading everything on audioaficionado, I like the idea of having the 611‘s. And that should be more than I need for the rest of my life.

Is the MSRP of the MC462 still US $9,000?
