Jerry.......Always a pleasure.

Don't forget, after the new turntable mat is on the platter you will need to have the vertical tracking angle (VTA) reset, and the tracking force checked for accuracy again. I hope the person who is setting up your tonearm for you is very experienced, and has the tools to set it properly. With a turntable at this level and cost, you want to be assured that you are getting everything you can from that glorious phono cartridge.

2) It would be interesting to see what you think playing a CD through the 808.3 vs. a ripped or downloaded version of same CD through Sooloos and see if there are any perceptible differences.

Finally, you never told us how it went with your wife when she came back to find all these upgrades...enquiring minds want to know Seriously, Hopefully that didn't go too bad.

Congrats again on a wonderful system and hopefully this will quiet down the upgrade itch for a while.
Hi Cyril,

Shhh, she's sleeping soundly! She was able to let me off cause I did 3 things right!

1. Promise she can do some shopping for new clothes/shoes and also buy her a nice dinner tomorrow.

2. Simply mention this is my one big birthday gift I love to buy myself - which I have been searching all these years and finally "found it".

3. Avoid talking "how much"!

Now to answer your questions:

1. The TT is mine. Its the Phono Stage that is a on loan as they do not have the higher model - the Decade. Now it will be delivered with two TT accessories, the Harmonix Disc Clamp & Mat.

2. I am doing the comparison now. CD used is the newly bought - Phil Collins "Going Back". Track 9 - Papa WAs a Rolling Stone. The CD sounded better - barely so and only one starts listening very focus and critically. By itself, the Sooloos is up there with the best CD machines! I cant really talk much on the 808i.3 CD player as I am only listening to one track of the CD (actually half a track as I am going back and forth to compare). Give me a few weeks to get acquainted with the Sooloos first ... as the 808i.3 would be the next main course! The TT combo would be last when everything's in place.

I dont know if I can itch anymore cause I have so much new toys on hand to get busy with. And re-discover some of the music I had "dumped" aside all these years!

Thanks for the compliments! BUT seriously, I am for the first time really enjoying the gears than merely looking at them as pride of purchases.

Cheers!

Most impressive! Your system looks great and it appears sounds just as impressive. Congrats!

Very interested in your views on the Sooloos as you settle in. My sticking point has been the screen sitting across the room from my chair.

Happy listening!
Reg

The Sooloos screen can go anywhere you want. Just get a long cat 5 cable and a long digital cable and run the wires around the perimeter of the room and the screen can be right next to your chair, that's how mine is setup. Depending of your floor, you could also run the cables under the floor.

Jerry
You have put together a super system and it looks great. I am glad it has come toether so well.
One suggestion is don't waste your time loading those discs you will only listen to one a year or less. It is just as easy to load the disc into the Meridian.
Jim

Thanks Victor. After a day, I now understand why the Sooloos is so highly recommended by you and Jeff. Indeed a superb piece of gear!

Cheers!
