What about JBL 4312A studio monitors?! Are they considered among the better JBL speakers?! I have heard, some say the sound is boxy. Is that right?!

They're not the most sought after JBL's but still a good speaker.

ramin audio......Welcome to Audio Aficionado.

I own a pair of JBL 4312A speakers. I bought them new in 1980, and have enjoyed a lot of usic on them. They are an excellent sounding three-way JBL speaker. No.....they do not sound boxy. Like all speakers, placement has alot to do with soundsyage and imaging. The were manufactured in mirror pairs, a seperate left and right speaker, so if you are shopping for them watch for that. I have seen some being sold as two lefts, or two rights. The 4312A's are damn good speakers. Mine are in the walnut veneer cabinets, and look good, too.

Hi,

greetings from Norway and congratulations on the great new site!

I have the k29800SE, run them with Mcintosh 1.2kw and Mcintosh Mc 1000T.

Sources are a hotrodded Marantz multiplayer and a vintage Garrard301/Audio Technica 12" arm and an Ortofon Spu Gold.

tjnif,

Sorry to hear about the demise of your 4312A's... However, I offer a hearty CONGRATULATIONS on your acquisition (to-be) of a pair of 4345's. The 4345 is one SWEET loudspeaker system from their professional series lineup.

I'll look forward to hearing your impressions, and some pictures!

Pete

Yes, would think they would certainly "do"....the 4350's are MONSTERS. (I confess to having lusted for them myself!). But the 4345's, with the magnificent 2245H low frequency driver, 10 in midrange driver, high frequency compression driver coupled with the famous JBL horn/lens assembly, and finally the wonderful 2405 ultra high frequency driver, ad you have a winning loudspeaker, one to "die" for. The dynamic capabilities of these loudspeakers alone will put you in seventh heaven.I feel your excitement!

I love these larger JBL systems. The 2245H low frequency driver is a superb driver. I have a pair of L220A's, and a B460 Subwoofer that utilizes this driver. I wouldn't trade it for anything....

I know you will love the 4345's.
