I haven't been there in several months. Last time just some 5200's hooked up to the AV system.

I owned Meridian 551 and 506.24 for several years along with Chario Academy Millenium 1.
It was a real nice combination for about 8 years for me.
But no comparison to McIntosh I use now.

I think Meridian equipment is great for music lovers who have most of their music collection in digital format, and want great sound quality with modern styling and are prepared to spend a very significant amount of cash. But there is also a type of audiophile who likes to tweak with their system, trying different cables, racks and feet under their hifi, and for those types, meridian is not for them, as it is proprietry and only works within a 100% Meridian setup.

Sorry Thumbs down from me--worst Digital I've ever heard was in the Boothroyd Stuart Suite at a Penta Show on the UK.
Full house system from Meridian Digital Speakers thru to source.

Made my ears bleed--witnessed a few claims to the throne since then but nothing has trumped that effort.

If I got a penny for every badly setup or underperforming system at the audio shows I guess one could have a nice trip to thailand or something. If they manage to put something there that raises an eyebrow then good for them, it's very seldom you get woved by a system because we all know it takes some TLC time to get it right and they never have that at shows so it's like rolling a dice mostly with some exceptions.

I really enjoyed my dealers MBL Extreme system in multichannel at the latest High End fair 2012 here in Stockholm, they had really worked on the acoustics etc.

Now for the yes/no tweaking part well, you can't tweak those speakercables, but I enjoy Finite Elemente, Shunyata Research, Furutech, Boston Audio Design, Solid Tech and Spectral in my full Meridian setup for everything else. And truth to be told I don't miss the speakercables. I run Furutech Flux powercables and Furutech LAN-10G Cat6a to my Meridian speakers on top of shunyata dark field cable elevators. It's fun, it's my hobby and it sounds and looks great.

Not entirely true. I have a Reference 861v6/HD621 as the hub of my main system and no other Meridian components.

...And it's doing all the proper 'communication' (integration or/and HDMI's handshaking) with your other components Kal (with its latest firmware update)?

Agree 100%. You can choose to use just Meridian CDPs, Meridian Speakers, Meridian Processors, a combination of all three etc. The choice is yours. Right now I only use Meridian as a source through my Sooloos and 808.3 CDP
