Default Zitron Cobra SC thoughts

I have been seriously considering buying some WW Silver Eclipse SC's, but after all the rave reviews and excitement about the new Zitron's, I'm having second thoughts. What do you guys think? I don't really have a good way to audition either and I already have some WW Silver PC's and one IC. Also, the Cobras will be a little more expensive.
Am I better off staying with WW for my system or would the new Cobras be the way to go?
Thanks.

Well, Dhizzle, only you can decide for yourself what constitutes a value proposition with respect purchase decisions, but here's my two cents:

I personally am a big fan of Wireworld and genuinely think that they are truly excellent products with a well-deserved reputation. I have and continue to advocate and recommend WW products to friends and acquaintances on a consistent basis. In fact, I was just recommending them to a friend last night.

That being said, having researched the development of the new Zitron and VTX conductor technology developed by Shunyata, I'm coming to the conclusion that this is a major step forward in the development of power and signal cable design, materials science, and technology based on new insights into the understanding of the physics and electrodynamics of current and signal transduction.

Audio Servant's recent mini-review and the new videos of Caelin Gabriel at Shunyata Resarch were really compelling arguments for me. As a fellow professional scientist, Gabriel's intellectually rigorous and systematic approach to product design really resonates with me, and I know from extensive personal ownership experience just how superb and superior these products are. I'm still going to try to influence Caelin to use Design of Experiments (DOE) in his design activities, but that's a story for another post.

So, if I were in the position of looking at new speaker cables, I'd very likely be getting a set of Zitron Cobra speaker cables. In fact, I'm positive I would.

Personally, I'm seriously considering the purchase of a Zitron power cord, and also a Triton power distributor.

There is also a review in TAS issue 220 by Robert Harley of the new Zitron speaker cables.

Nope, but you can download the review from the home page at Shnyata as a PDF. The cables got a great review, as you might expect. Harley was very mpressed with them.

Thanks for the links to the reviews. I'll definitely check them out.
Are the black Mambas their cheapest interconnects?

dhizzle, I am a fan of each of Shunyata and WireWorld, but what I have found after being at this hobby for a short while is that today's "newest great thing" is tomorrow's "junk." Don't let the hype make the decision for you. Zitron may well be a break through, but without an apples to apples comparison, how would one know? Depending on where one started any change could be an improvement. Depending on how effusive (or knowledgeable) one is, the excitement over a perceived improvement could be misleading.

I strongly suspect that the Zitron is an improvement because Shunyata has an admirable track record. But that is not the point relative to your system. Instead the question is: would more money spent starting over with Shunyata be worth the potential improvement over an all WireWorld setup (which you have not even heard yet). The question is unanswerable in absolute terms because it is only your ears in your system that matter and you have said auditions are not possible. The good news is that both cables are likely to be so good as to negate one being a horribly wrong choice (assuming out the synergy issue).

But I can offer this: my WireWorld Silver Eclipse 6's were a breathtaking improvement in my system.

One option can be to see if you can borrow a set of each from the lending library of The Cable Co. and this way you can audition and compare for yourself.
