There is also a DC insert for the cable from the power supply to the sub itself....but no apparent means to "daisy chain" the subs... MANY thanks,
Each of these EM subs are passive. They each have a passive EM power module, which also adjusts for more, or less force factors.

You require an amp for each subwoofer, which will use speaker cables to each of them. You need to split the subwoofer signals to each of the amplifiers connected, and lastly, you need a power point to each EM power supply.

These subs are massive, and massively powerful.

My signature is for a dream system that I have not attained. But I have auditioned them, used them, and know them very well.

Thanks!

I understand the Dream System!!! I cannot help but wonder if when a person orders two or more subs per channel, if Focal does not then have a different back to accommodate the stack? Or, would you need a custom cable to connect the bottom sub (which is connected to the amp) to the sub above it, or, to the two subs stacked above the lowest sub??

There are two different model names: the two bottom subs are labeled Subwoofer Utopia EM/S and the top one (if a three stack) Stackable Utopia EM/T....I have a question about this in to a tech person at Focal's US distributor in New York to see if I can get this answered.

Maybe one does indeed need a four or six pack of amps, besides the amps for the main speakers......when I get a reply from Audio Plus Services, I will post the info here....

Cheers,

The S and T have a different finish on the top surface. One of them is the groove, which allows the next one to sit on top, and the other is the smooth finish.

The connections are the same, all speaker input, hence you'll need to run the speaker cables from the amp directly to the woofer.

Unless you're thinking of parallel or series connection, which usually would place heavy demands on the amplifier.

Thanks for the update.....BUT, according to Rich at Boulder, either a 3060 or pair of the new 2150's would be MORE than up to the challenge of driving up to three subwoofers in a stack!!!

Cheers,

Sorry Masterlu......I received a new price sheet from Audio Plus Services and the subs are now $14,999 each......the Grande Utopia EM's are $194,999/pair

And the cost of a custom finish adds a 20% premium....

Cheers,
