Hey njcardave - that is a great room! I love the counter behind the seats. Have you ever been to the Fenway Park Monster seats? Reminds me of that, but a bit more upscale .

These are absolutely gorgeous systems. If I had to choose whether to run my XVX with either two 501's or 462, the choice would be easy. It would be the two 501's. I think two 501's would do an excellent job with my XVX. I just don't see this with a 462. My only concern would be the condition of the 501's. If you took a significantly smaller speaker that was easier to drive, then definitely the 462. The 501 will do over 700 watts continuous a 4 ohms. The 8 ohm tap will deliver 1000 watts at 2 ohms.

I think under most conditions two 501's would acquit themselves extremely well driving my XVX compared to other mono amps.

Best

Forgive me, but the above comment strikes as being a bit in left field. XVX's are extremely uncommon to say the least and I have trouble imagining anyone who invested in them using either amp. The MC462, being the less colored device with quicker highs and mid-base might be the better overall system fit for a host of modern speakers such current generation Magneplanars (with which the OP is making his comparison). Of course, until one makes his/her own direct comparisons within the context of the system and listening tastes at hand, one is just "mixing to make Seacliff rose" as we used to say.

Respectfully,

Bob

Never been to Fenway. Thank you for the compliment. The room is 31’ long and 18’ wide. Had enough room to add what I call the OWNERS BOX. It’s been a labor of love.

It sure is. Outstanding room. We have some connections with the Red Sox, so maybe we can get you to the Monster Seats. The audio is terrible, but the view is one-of-a-kind. Helps to be a baseball fan though.

Where in NJ? Summer home at Lake Hopatcong (grew up on the lake).
