I don’t disagree to stay out of a plane.

I think the panic for food, sanitizer and such will drop down in the weeks ahead.

I have zero worry; best practice, is simple practice. Wash your hands and don’t be around anyone with signs of the flu.

The United States has the best medical care system in the world, bar none.

This is a flu virus epidemic and cures and vaccines with come soon. The United States does not have an epidemic as other countries have, because of aggressive action taken.

The epidemic of FEAR is much worse than the coronavirus.

Using common sense and good hygiene is always your best defense. Stay home if you have a cold as with any flu.

This is Coronavirus COVID-19

This is not an epidemic, this a global pandemic

The R0 of Influenza is 1.3; the R0 is COVID-19 is 3 and possibly as high as 4 (too little epidemiological data as yet for an exact figure).

The lethality index of Influenza B is ~0.1%; the 1918 Spanish Influenza, the deadliest strain on record, was 1.8.

The lethality index of COVID-19 is currently 3.39%; this is >33X as deadly as the "flu" (data from COVID-19 tracker here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/)



Vaccines will not be available and approved by the FDA for a minimum of 12 months, & more likely, 18 months. By then, 54 million people in the US may be infected. This is approximately 1 in 6 persons.

Ron - when you rate a country's healthcare system you rate it for everyone in the country, not just those of us who are fortunate enough to afford good healthcare. I've got no quibble with my healthcare, but I have been able to afford it. 10's of millions in our country cannot.

Just heard some breaking news...

In Italy, there are now 4,636 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 197 deaths, 49 in the last...24 hours. There were 700 new cases yesterday and 800 in the 24 hours before that.

This makes the lethality index to be...4.2%.

A leading epidemiologist in Italy is stating the the Coronavirus is 4X more infectious than the strain first characterized in China. It appears that COVID may becoming more virulent. He also says this Coronavirus will be extant for the next year....
