Default Decommissioning the ClearAudio Solution, enter the Thorens TD125 MkII

I finally decided to temporarily decommission the upgraded ClearAudio Solution Table so I can send the reference Motor and Pulley back to Mike at Musical Surroundings. It has had a very faint click since I got it, and I felt it was the pulley, but the pulley is $150, and we are not convinced if that might be the issue so I will pack up the heavy beast and send it in for a check up. They charge $100 per hour, but the labor goes to the parts cost if they repair/update it. It is a worthy investment in a fine table in my opinion. We shall see.

In the meantime my Thorens TD125MkII/ Magnapan Unitrac1 will stand in. I have moved the Dynavector 17D2mr to the Unitrac1, and it is performing wonderfully. The recently acquired nude Denon DL103 SS ruby in Ebony shell is too heavy for the Unitrac1 since I do not have the heavier weight for it. It will replace the Ortofon MC20 Super in the Pro-Ject 9cc on the modified Thorens TD160. (that will be another story)

I will forgo the Mono Collection while the motor is out west, but will enjoy the Thorens for a few weeks. I will review the sonic differences between the two tables after some listening.

Once again I am convinced a tweaked TD125MkII/ Magnapan Unitrac1 is a fine combo well above the price point with the right cartridge The cartridge/arm resonance comes in just a shade over 9hz. To be Continued........
Regards,
Jim

How is the solution? I have a Master Solution and an very happy with it, recently the motor has been "cogging" especially on start up. Getting concerned that I might not be able to get it repaired or replaced. I have upgraded to the ceramic/magnetic bearing and if I can find a new motor it will essentially be a new TT. Hope your motor is fixed.
