meant to say I never purchased the AR due to most likely unfounded fear of dealing with resistors blowing. ended up getting a naim. will keep both in the meantime to see. I don't understand it with audio, I feel satisfied with my purchases, but at the same time always am looking at what else is out there and end up spending 2-3x what I originally budgeted.

Default Nice write up on the LM Audio set amps

For the LM Audio fans out there. I have one and love it. Steve Huff gives a glowing review here-
Line Magnetic 219ia Integrated Tube Amp Review. 300B and 845 Tube Magic! | STEVE HUFF PHOTOS

Although I have had to open up my amp, remove and reassemble two washers that were rolling around in the amp, since I have owned it. Other than that, the amp has given me many nights of audio bliss.

I'm off to Austin tomorrow to demo a few LM amps

I'll be trying the 216, 218 and 518.

I'm buying an integrated to go with a Clearaudio Concept and Sonus faber Guarneri Homage speakers. Unfortunately, I that gear hasn't arrived so I can't take it to demo.. I have a time deadline so it's tomorrow or never.

Here is a cool picture from Pitch Perfects website:

Bought the 218.

I wanted to love the 216 (because it looks great and is cheap), but couldn't when compared to the 218 and 501.

The 501 sounded 'better' but I was more 'connected' to the 218.

Listening to the 501 was like admiring excellent sound.
Listening to the 218 was like being connected to music.

My wife knew immediately that she preferred the 218. It took me longer to come around but she was right. I was stuck on the quality of the 501 and was missing the point.

Congrats on your purchase. The LM gear delivers. The Leben 300 wasn't in the mix? Cheers -Don

We didn't even try it. In retrospect we should have but store owner suggested we'd do better to look at the Leben CS-600 instead as it would have 'enough' power to drive our 88dB speakers. However, that was out of our price so and we ended up trying neither of them.

Thanks!

I was surprised at how easily I could tell the difference - this is our first foray into nice audio (we currently have a Bose 2.1 ).

Gotcha- the Leben 600 does creep up there. Regardless, no doubt a great choice! Cheers -Don
