I'll be soon doing my annual bike trip with my buddies, this year South of France as we're not venturing too far and going for a shorter time, previous trips were in Andalucia, Portugal, Tuscany and Croatia, all great places!

Alps also sounds like a wonderful trip.

I have not gone on a long trip on a bike since my early 40s, it is all mostly local which is fun for a few hours at at time. Great to have some country roads and the Amish communities nearby, to stay away from traffic and enjoy a bit of nature.

A few hours on the bike is all the therapy I ever need to set my mind and mood right.
