Default Long HDMI Cables Supporting HDR HDMI 2.0B 18GBPS 4K @ 60hz UltraHD YUV 4:4:4

I'm having some stability problems with my OppO UDP 205 and JVC RS-500U.

Both support HDR HDMI 2.0B 18GBPS 4K @ 60hz UltraHD YUV 4:4:4

I think the cables I pulled are not capable of those data rates.

I can run another long HDMI cable but would prefer not to.

Cable length is 40 feet.

I have an extra Cat5E running from my equipment rack to my projector.

Does anyone have experience with HDMI to Cat 5E/6 extenders?
Or am I better off pulling a certified 18 GBPS cable?

Tom

Tom, I don’t have experience in this but dealt with similar issues in the past and ran the certified cable with no problem. My gut tells me adapters cause something to be given up.

I think the more 'devices' you have in an HDMI chain the more potential for trouble. I am looking at hybrid fiber cables now and that seems to be the way to go.

I have found once we go past 20 feet it gets very tricky. I put in Fiber at 45 ft and No problems. No ARC with Fiber. Arc is just asking for it anyway.
Some good info Here.

I have had good experience with fiber optic cables from Monoprice at 50ft. As stated you
do lose ARC with fiber but have never found a good reason to use it.

No issues from AV processor to Sony LED doing everything up to Dolby Vision

Glenn, Ed;
Thanks for the info. Long HDMI at 18GBPS seems like a crap shoot until you look at some f the independent test results. I don't need ARC so it looks like hybrid fiber will be the ticket.

I ended up using an Ethereal HDM GA-1 HDMI accelerator. It is an active HDMI repeater designed for use with copper HDMI cables. It is working well with my 40’ high quality HDMI cable.
