The first step will be the change of the tweeter.
Afterwards will check the amp parameters.

I am still afraid the finish will be with crossover filter change.
Will keep you posted.
Those Mundorf caps are 2% tolerance and basically indestructible, so they're the least likely elements in the chain to be at fault.

I am still trying to find the connection between the theory and the result that I have in the problematic speaker. If there is an issue with the voice coil of the treeter and the impedance is going above the expected 8ohms this will change the cutoff frequency of the filter.
at 8 ohms and capacitor 4u7 the filter is expected to cut at 4.23kHz
at 12 ohms and same capacitor the cut frequency is going down to 2.82kHz

This gives me hope that there could be no problem with the filter
Let's wait for the change and will see.

Thanks once again for all you inputs!

Default So, both tweeters failed in two basically brand new speakers?

I find that amazing, and would be very concerned to determine the cause.

Hope B&W will provide feedback after observing the failed diamonds.
Its weird they failed in completely different way one from another.
1st no sound at all. strange stains in the membrane.
2nd grinding sound. no stains.

I am very concerned how long the replaced ones will last
the statistics until now : 4 months since the speakers have been delivered an two months of the time waiting for repairs.

I had both generations
I don’t think the new works on the old ones

That's correct. The D3 tweeter grille is no longer magnetic and not easily removable either, I think probably because it's been optimized to the point of being so close to perfect that it's deemed to be 'inaudible'.

Default 802D3 with Anthem STR power amp and b+w DB1 and DB1D'subs

Hi All
Hello from Christchurch NZ !!
First post ! I have owned the 802D3's with Anthem STR power amp and b+w DB1 and DB1D subs for about 18months would have loved the 800D3's but beyond my reach ! I highly rate ALL the above mentioned gear..the Anthem STR stereo power amp gives 400 WPC it is a powerful refined beast most of all it is not a harsh or bright amp ..I upgraded from a parasound halo A21 the Anthem off course is a lot more expensive but certainly outperformed the Halo much mellower and musical especially on the highs
I also run a paradigm signature C5 centre (6-driver, 3-1/2-way) center channel also with SVS ultra towers for surrounds driven by an emotive xpa -dr3 amp 3 channels 450 WPC (differential reference series a nice AMP this type of emotiva amp I'm happy with)
My preamp is a Marantz 8802A
my rears are a paradign Signature ADP3 5driver 3-way surround
My atmos speakers are 4 SVS Prime Elevations
the rears and 4 dolby atmos speakers are driven by a Pereaux P6160..6 channels 160WPC
My voice of God speaker for aura 3D is a B+W 8inch driven by a Pereaux P200 ..200WPC... thats 12 speakers and 2 subs !!
My CD-T is a Jays Audio CD-T mk2 and my DAC is a Jays audio signiture DAC the Jays audio CD-T revolutionized my CD listening experience its a stunning Transport along with a stunning DAC
for movies i run an OPPO 103D and a panasonic UB9000 4k player i have a 75 inch 2018 samsung QLED 4K TV (the best 4K they made)
Cables..audioquest Gibraltar speaker cables with kimber 8TC and QED speaker cable audioquest Columbia intercontects with pereaux interconects also
I run Iso tek aqurius power conditioner and cables with other local brands too..that my introduction guys and gals !!

Default Turbine head paint job - 802 D3

Hi again everybody!

Did spot a strange paint imperfection on one of the turbine heads today. It is very well shaped like small bump. Absolutely round. Very hard to spot it, but it depends on the light. I can feel it with a finger. What is your opinion?
Paintjob issue? or some hidden hole in the turbine body an painted on top?

sharing the pictures in gdrive. still can’t upload pics here.
