Default Any problems with solar power?

In keeping with the nearby thread on household generators, does anyone have experience with a roof mounted solar power installation? We are considering a supplemental solar system without batteries. I asked the contractor about the danger of introducing electrical noise into our system and he didn't think it would be a problem although he had no specific information to back that opinion up. He has installed hundreds of systems and electrical noise has never been a source of complaint. Unfortunately the inverter will be on an outside wall about 20' from my equipment. Any thoughts?

We had solar panels installed last month and I have not noticed any changes in sound quality in my system. In our case, though, the exterior boxes are farther away than yours would be, but the installation of the panels themselves doesn't seem to have done any harm to the sound.

We installed solar last summer. The panels are on a garage about 75’ from the house, but the main panel and switching are on the house about 35’ from the room with my system. My installation may not be totally relevant, but I’ve experienced no issues and couldn’t tell any difference in sound.

It’ll be only as good as the inverters that change the DC to AC. If they aren’t quality inverters, they could introduce troublesome over voltage, under voltage, and/or noise. He may have installed hundreds but were any installed in an audiophiles home that would notice poor power?

I’d look at the specs on the inverter he’s using. Check the voltage regulation and distortion specs.

My sincere thanks to all who responded. I am currently doing more research and will update with my experiences after the installation.

We have over 30 panels with 3 converters.
No problems so far.

I have 21 panels and I might be crazy, but my system actually seems to sound better since the solar power / electrical grid tie-in set up was installed. Variability in timbre and sounstage size seems to be gone and is always good now. ????? again, I may be crazy, but it sure seems that way.
