It is still $9000, I just bought one tonight. Traded in my MC302. Now the long wait...Dealer still needs to check with McIntosh but mentioned it could be a couple months until it is available.

New MC462
I just had my 611’s delivered yesterday. I ordered them in September. I have them connected to B&W 802D3 speakers and am using the 4 ohm tap. Warmer amp compared to my Classe that I sold, but I feel like I am missing a little on the high end. Do they need a break in period? I am curious if anyone owning a 462 has experimented using the 8 ohm as compared to the 4 ohm tap.

I don’t have a 462 but I do run my 601s off the 8 ohm tap and am pleased with what I’m hearing although I’m tempted to experiment.

What speakers are you using? B&W’s are rated at 8 ohms but dip down to 3 ohms at times. Thus it was recommended to use the 4 ohm tap.

I have 803d3 bi-wired. See my signature for my full system. Because I have a tube preamp I chose to run off the 8 ohm taps which in theory should give me more top end and punch. The tube preamp helps balance thing with a warmer sound. I say in theory because I’ve never been inclined to experiment for myself.

Makes sense as I believe the 8 ohm tap will help the treble and mid range punch. Are you happy with the bass? I just got my amps yesterday and still breaking them in. I was a little unhappy with the top end yesterday but sounded much better today. I will probably experiment at some point.

I have an MC462 and have experimented with the 8 ohm tap vs the 4 ohm tap. For me, the 8 ohm tap is a significant improvement in overall sound as compared to the 4 ohm tap. But that’s because it works with my speakers, your experience will be different because you have different speakers. Take some time and listen and you’ll come to a conclusion that works for you.
