I am starting to feel the QC is not like it used to be.

Yeah, I was annoyed the last time around, when shortly after buying my 871, the 881 came out and my 871 was suddenly being sold for $2500 new, and much less used. It was part of the reason I decided to pass on the 881... but once the 891 (or whatever) comes out, I suppose I could find an 881 for much less. We shall see.

Does anybody know what DACs McIntosh is using in 881? Also, I think McIntosh should improve on is completely passive cooling in their BluRay players for maximally quiet operation. With so much real estate inside the over sized chassis they can afford to drop a giant heatsink in there. Will add to the weight too for that extra audiophile warm feeling of quality |

Need upgrade option for MX150
Since the Denon AVP and Classe CP-800 can both be shipped back for retrofitting/upgrading at user expense, then McIntosh needs to offer that to owners of the MX150 that desire HDMI 1.4a. While I have no interest in 3D, I would assume that there are many out there that would like to be able to have a $12,500 pre-pro that is up-to-date as well as keeping its resale value up.

I really like my MVP881. Don't want to pay extra for the 3D but like the BR feature very much. Ordinary DVD's and DVD music video's are simply superb. Built like a tank, has excellent power supply, DAC's, and very low distortion/jitter. I've never heard the fan come on. Sounds much the same as my MCD1100 on most discs to me. SACD's sound superb. Price is very reasonable for a universal player. If you want the latest HDMI I'd buy something cheaper that could easily be replaced when the next version came out. No universal player will ever be the match of the latest dedicated DAC of the MCD1100 ilk. The MVP881 is a very good value.

+3 on the Quality control issues. I really can't believe the issues I've had with many new products. Sad state of affairs. Once, they took back a brand new C50 from me and had the balls to repair it rather than replace it. That leaves me with essentially "B" stock.
