Default Torus Power (Bryston) from 6moons

September 2009 - New Look - Torus Power has announced that 17-inch non rack-mountable versions of all Torus Power models up to 20 amps will become available with new cosmetics in both silver and black faceplates for the consumer market. Additionally, the popular RM-15 will be reduced to a 2u rack size and with a lower $2000 MSRP. A complete range of rack-mountable “Pro” models remains in the Torus lineup. Torus Power has also announced that their AVR Series (Automatic Voltage Regulation) will be available with the new consumer cosmetic treatment in 120 volt units up to the 20-amp version (RM-15, RM-20, RM-20 BAL). International AVR models (230/240 volt) will be available in 4 amp, 8 amp and 16 amp configurations. The AVR line provides all the advantages of the original Torus Power designs, such as ultra-clean AC power, complete isolation from the outside power grid and series-mode surge suppression, plus the added benefit of stabilized voltage to connected equipment. “We identified a market need for non-industrial looking consumer models up to 20-amps in size, both in the standard Torus Power series and the AVR series of products,” explained sales VP James Tanner. “We now have attractive packaging available that looks quite at home in any A/V system—while offering a substantial increase in performance and protection from unwanted surges,” Tanner added.

The new Torus Power consumer models range in MSRP from the 2.5A version at $995 (US) to $3000 (US) for the 20A model. The Torus Power AVR series with the new cosmetic treatment run $3000 (US) for the 15A version and $4000 for the 20A models, balanced or unbalanced. All Torus Power products are backed by a 5-year limited warranty. New models will ship Q4, 2009.

THX 4 the heads up.

I'm still hoping that Mc will market an international MPC1500...but I guess the chances are very slim...so I'll probably go for the Torus Power.

I liked the previous look too...but the new units in black are very cool.

IMHO Torus is the best power conditioner around... A tangible improvement can be felt and heard. This I know because across the audible band down to subsonic through the BB5-XBD-A, one of the most brutally honest speakers in the planet, the image was improved, the background made darker, and bass impact and definition improved. Even the most die-hard skeptics within PMC were in acknowledgment.

The Synergistic Research Powercell is another goody to be considered when looking to improver your AC stability....

I know one thing for sure,my Torus(s)won't be up for sale, unless Torus comes up with something better.I use to use the Shunyata hydra 6 and 2s.
There is no comparison whatsoever. They are pricey, but for the music,we'll worth the price, and you hear it(musically speaking).Alot of conditioners are limited to just the 15a or 20a from the wall, the Torus will give out up to 400a(short term).
You really hear the authority of kick, bass ect.bigger stage ect.
I had dedicated lines 8X15a,then dropped 4 for 2X240vlines for the two balanced Torus(s).To me the Torus is a major component upgrade and they're keepers for sure,
night+day difference,that's for sure.My one complaint,THEIR HEAVY 20a-bal+60a-bal.
I'd really like to try the big Mcs with the Torus as I'm sure they like more than the wall
can give,I DO and you hear it.

I recently picked up an RM20 AVR, can anyone tell me what size the 12v trigger cable is? I've tried using a 3.5mm stereo cable with no luck. A mono cable doesn't seem to be working either, though I made it with my soldering skills, so it might be the problem. Maybe it's a 1/8" cable?

Not sure what I was thinking 3.5mm versus 1/8", same thing...

But it's still not working. I've tested the Anthem being able to turn off my Bryston 9b, but still no luck with turning down Torus.

I possibly have a defective unit. I've tried emailing tech support, but haven't seen a response in over a week. Too bad, Bryston support is known for excellency, let's hope Torus picks it up.

If anyone has ideas, let me know.
Thanks.

Not that anyone probably cares, but I'm updating this just in-case someone happens upon it from Google and wonders what happened.

There is a cable inside the unit that needs to be replaced to make the 12V trigger work. Apparently my unit is an earlier model and has a small defect. Contact customer support at Torus tech <at sign> toruspower <dot> com for help.

As I have a Torus for my components and another for my amps.
I have 2 DD-15s where one is connected to the 60a Torus and the other is direct to the wall(power cable too short).
This might be a bit extreme, but I found a Torus BX-10 on Audiogon, not that I need 8 outlets for the sub.
She'll handle 10a(that's what the wants at full power)plus I get the extra amperage when needed on short music peaks,50a and more.
As I'm into great sounding bottomend, these babies are a must have plus the effortlessness of the music as a whole.
I should have a more of a balanced bottomend with the Torus(s)feeding both subs.
