Panel lights replacement, MC500
Nearly all the panel lights are out on my MC500. There might be one or two bulbs on the left meter. I have found a source for the #7373 bulb but was wondering if anyone has had experience replacing them? Maybe there is a 'how to' that someone published on the Internet?
I know it will be a big job as the bulbs have to be soldered in and some are behind the glass. I would like to be as prepared as I can before starting this. Definately do not want LED lights. Thanks |

While I never had to replace the bulbs in my MC500 during the 3yr I owned, it "should" be quite straight-forward. If were me, would give Ryan at Audio Classics a call to discuss as there may be a couple of non-obvious screws, etc., that need to be removed to safely perform the work without damage to the glass faceplate. Audio Classics likely will also have the blue 'gel' if you wish to restore the blue to something close to original as it will have faded over the years.
Also, there are 'long-life' lamps available with an MTBF of 50K hours (about the same as an LED). If you do not have a source for same, PM me and I'll give the contact info. Good luck with your work. The MC500 is still my favorite solid-state McIntosh piece.
