Having couple friends and brother over for early evening NYE countdown serving smoked ribs hot wings, asada, grilled oysters…and open bar with cocktails, tequila/vodka/scotch/bourbon…and of course beer.

New Year’s Day celebration to continue with a smaller group. Our parties generally cap out between 1am-3am.

Both the wife and I are in our 70's so we do not party much on the 31st and consider the ball dropping at 11PM our time as new years.....! We will have a Martini about 6:30 and supper on steak and bake that I cook. We actually just go back from three nights in Port Aransas which is on our Texas coast. We go every year for her birthday. Hope everyone stays safe for the new year.

Boss-girl and I have a full house of relatives for a couple weeks, and will take our son and his girlfriend to see a local production of Das Fledermaus at 7:00. My sincere hope is that this opera will be no longer than 90 minutes so we can be back and catch the Ohio State game before the first half is over. That will keep us up to midnight. Go Bucks!

Gee, some of you guys sound like the last time you stayed up til midnight was watching Guy Lombardo... just kidding! Happy New Year all!

We weren't married yet, but 41 years ago my wife and I found a house to buy. It sounded odd when our attorney suggested closing on the afternoon of New Year's Eve, but we didn't have other plans.

That New year's Eve was our first in this house. Of course, we'd just closed and had no furniture. But I'd cobbled together enough audio gear for tunes (an old Pioneer SA-9100 integrated, some cheap compact speakers and a Sony TC-D5M cassette deck). Her parents brought over pizza and we celebrated with them and champagne. It was the best pizza I ever ate.

My wife's parents were wonderful people. They're both gone now and we miss them.

Still, every year we restage that first New Year's Eve. Music, pizza, champagne, and thoughts of what has been and what may yet be. It's not a bad way to start a new year.
