Jim - great suggestion, one of my favorites 70s Jazz-fusion, on Taylor’s prolific label

Best,
Joel

I saw this posted in the general music thread, and was curious as I hadn't played this yet.

Sonny Stitt - Stitt plays Bird
via Qobuz

Recorded Jan 29, '63.

Sonny Stitt – alto saxophone
John Lewis – piano
Jim Hall – guitar
Richard Davis – bass
Connie Kay – drums

Pretty good, but Parker himself grabs your soul much more firmly.

Default What jazz music are you listening to?

Ambrose Akinmusire ‎– A Rift In Decorum: Live At The Village Vanguard
Blue Note (2017), via Qobuz

A reference from an excellent article by Thomas Conrad in this month’s Stereophile. Fascinating music, great playing, and excellent “you are there” live recording.
