A 3060 (run as mono) per side....$115,000 per 3060....total $230,000

A pair of 3050's (one per side) is $205,000...

So, what/how does a 3060 run as a mono trump a 3050 single channel?? Is there some magic in combining the power of two channels from one chassis into three Utopia Subs instead of one 3050 (or, 2150) single channel running three subs?? I am NOT trying to be combative here, rather, just trying to learn and understand!!!

MANY THANKS,

As long as you're using good amplification, it actually matters less when joining the multiples of subwoofers together.

Having mono configurations will allow you more control over the subwoofer's outputs.

For use with hometheatre, to me it matters a lot less. In stereo, it's best you match according to what you use with the main speakers to get more coherent results.

Just saying.

Cheers!

Okay, now I understand....sort of like matching the amps output used on the speakers with the amps used on the subs....

As an example.....if you used a Boulder 3050 mono on one speaker, you would want to use a 3050 mono on one of the sub towers since they have the same power outputs, correct?? Would that allow the bass on the Grande to work best with the bass of the sub tower??

So much to learn....thank goodness for such a friendly place here at AA!!!

Cheers,
