Htm2 d3
Just curious if anyone has listened to the new HTM2 D3? My order finally came in but before I pick it up I am curious to see if there are any impressions of it out there

You'll hear it before I will! Curious to get your impressions.

Hi,
I heard the HTM2D3. It sounds great. It outputs the same timbre or voicing as the 804D3's but wouldn't go as low as the stereo pair as per design. Listening to only the center channel in mono alone is enjoyable enough for me (waiting for my stereo pairs.) It would integrate to your 804's very well. I think it pairs very well up to 803's D3.

That's correct. HTM2D3 has same mids and tweeter as 803/804's while Bass drivers same as 804's. I think it's very good to be integrated with 803's.

Since it doesn't have a turbine head (along with the different sized bass drivers) there are going to be audible differences when placed between a pair of 803's but this is no different in how the older HTM2D2 integrated with the 802/800. Some can hear it, some can't and for those that can hear the difference, it's certainly no deal breaker for most.
Given that it has the same sized drivers all around as the 804D3 and the 804 doesn't have a turbine head I would expect superb integration there, similar to the 803D2/HTM2D2 integration. |

New user here and would like to seek help with picking a centre channel speaker to go with the 804D3 I intended to order.
I had wanted to upgrade to a pair for smaller floorstanders forever and have set my sights on the 804d3 after comparing extensively against SF, MA, Dyna' s smaller towers. However, my B&W dealer informed me that they don't think there is going to be an updated HTM4 D3 and the smallest centre I can get will be the HTM2, which is quite massive for my room (15' x 14'). Is that true the HTM4 is being discontinued for the new series? What would you think of the best solution other than going up to the HTM2? Based on my audition I am not sure if the older Kelver cone would work with the new Continuum in the 804D3. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Wonder if anyone tried paring the D3 with other center with good result? I really love the 804D3 sound and look and would hate to go MA or SF just for a better sized center. Thanks! |

I had the HTM4 D2 as a center with my 804D3 and while it was "acceptable" the match was not ideal. The sonic signatures are noticeably different. I would recommend that you use the HTM2 D3 or perhaps even a single 805 D3.

Thanks! Just read also your open box thread and see that you are upgrading from the htm4d2 to htm2d3. When will your htm4 be arriving? Keen to hear your feed back as one of my initially preferred option was to get an (used) htm4d2/1 as i would mainly be using my 804d3 for stereo with occasssional HT (70:30 split). My dealer suggested the CMC 2 S2 but I'm a bit skeptical. It would really have been great if B&W would release a htm4d3.

Is there any possible way you can get and use a 3rd 804D3 for your center? There is nothing better than an identical speaker as these being used for L/R duty. |
