Talking Custom Cables

I'm the general manager for a company that provides products and services to the public safety market. We were working on a problem on a police motorcycle where the strobe light was causing interference in the radio microphone (or so we thought). We bought some special shielded 6 conductor cable to try and solve the problem. We ended up with about 100 ft and nothing to to use it for, so I brought it home.

I had been using Some Audioquest CV-4 (I think) that I picked up at a Best Buy for a song. I twisted the 6 20 ga conductors into 2 pair, and hooked it up to my speakers (at the time I had Magnepan MMGs).

I've played with cables, specifically Audoquest, Nordost, Cardas. I couldn't believe the difference these cables made. I have not really had any interest in upgrading speaker cables since I put them in my system.

A few weeks ago, I decided to order some more cable from the supplier. I ordered some 3 conductor 18 ga for balanced interconnects and some 6 conductor 18 ga to use for power cables. Same results, although not quite as dramatic. I decided to replace my Guerilla Audio power cables by replacing the cable (which I thought was shielded, but definitely was not) with the 6 conductor 18 ga twisted down to 3 conductors. The DAC and the preamp sound great, but the amps lost some bass.

Anyway, thanks for reading. The company I buy the cable from is TPC Wire and Cable. I have a contact there in sales if you're interested. They are a commercial supplier and I blew their minds when I told them what I was doing with their cable.

Take a look at their website. PM me if you have any questions.
