N150 is in the house.
It arrived Monday and replaces an aging Dell i7 Windows 10 laptop as the bedroom system's music player. Shown here atop the bedroom dresser, its temporary home until I install a 4TB SSD due in next week and park the N150 in the system's equipment rack. Currently sourcing music from an external USB hard drive and learning my way through Conductor, with plans to give Qobuz a shot once everything's in place. I listen mostly to classical, jazz, film scores, choral, vocals, and a smattering of opera, and it's already apparent that the N150 puts the laptop to shame, primarily through its ability to "extract" more quiet from the background, especially with "critical listening mode" engaged. Saint Mrs. agrees with the listening assessment--and, surprisingly, displayed not a hint of sticker shock when I answered the all-important question, "What did it cost?" I'll be interested in hearing what, if any difference, I can discern with music sourced from the internal SSD vs. the external HDD. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying the hell out of what I'm hearing right now.

Congrats, Jim. Also just a note that you can connect an used USB port on your Aurender to your Altaira by using a ground cable with a USB-A tail. This will bring another level of improvement and refinement to your system and the presentation.

I'll try again once I install the internal SSD. If it still balks at the USB connection, I may have another out that uses a spade connector instead of a USB tail. If that works, I'll post the solution here.

The 4 TB internal SSD for the N150 is due to be delivered here by late this afternoon, so I've disconnected the Aurender and conducted a continuity test between its AC ground pin and one of the two screws that secure the drive drawer to the chassis, as shown below:
The result is 0 ohms, so if I determine that the drawer will remain secured to the chassis with a spade-connected Shunyata Alpha CGC/SCG ground cable attached to that screw and not affect the SSD's operation, I'll be good to go with the N150 ground-connected to the Altaira CG hub. Will let you know if it works. Meanwhile, I'm over the moon hearing what the Aurender is feeding the bedroom system after about 90 hours of playback time.

Installing the 4 TB Samsung EVO solid-state drive in the N150's rear drive bay was literally a snap. Aurender's Conductor app recognized it immediately and prompted me to format it. That was done in the wink of an eye, but transferring nearly 1.7 TB of music files from a USB 3.0 external drive took a little over six hours.
Once that was done, I went across the hall to the home office and its Ethernet-connected Windows 11 PC (where I rip and download music files). As instructed by Conductor, I opened File Explorer/Network, entered the N150's address, and logged on to it. Up came the newly-installed SSD's folder (Music 1), and I was able to browse the files I'd just transferred to the Aurender. And play them (through that system's UD-501 DAC, Luminous passive, c-j Sonographe SA-250 amp, and Paradigm SE-1s). In listening to the bedroom system, music stored on the Aurender's SSD emerges from a quieter background than I hear from the external-drive-stored files. Once I established that during a "try-each" critical listening session, I decided to tackle the burning question: Can I attach a spade-terminated Shunyata Alpha CGC/SGC ground cable to one of the N150's drive-bay-securing knurled-knob bolts without--no pun...really--screwing everything up? The answer is Yes. The bay remains shut, with no discernible wiggle or adverse impact on the SSD's operation. The answer to the implied follow-up--"Does connecting the N150 to an Altaira chassis ground hub make a difference?"--is likewise Yes. An already open sonic presentation with the SSD installed becomes even more transparent and expansive with the N150 connected to Altaira. Here again, Saint Mrs. agrees. Here's the N150 in its new digs atop the to-be-replaced audio cabinet. As currently set up, the rig is esthetically challenged, with two CGC/SGC ground cables dangling in front of the cabinet on their way to the Altaira. Which means building new racks. Though I apparently don't have to do that right away. During a listening session last evening, I apologized to Saint Mrs. for the look. "I don't care how it looks as long as you're happy with it," she responded. Sorry, guys, she doesn't have any sisters.

Congratulations. I have a N100 in my headphone system and a W20SE in my main system. Once I found Aurender streamers I quickly climbed up their tiers to their flagship. Has finally taken the place of getting up every 20 minutes and changing the album.

What knocked my aural socks off immediately following the installation of the 4TB solid-state drive is history. I've put about 120 playback hours on the N150 since then--all SSD-sourced and in the unit's "critical listening" mode--and what I hear now is akin to having peeled shrink wrap off of the Aurender.
The sonic presentation is noticeably more open, transparent, and fine-tooth-comb detailed, dynamic contrast and impact more visceral, and (where the record production team has allowed it) the soundstage more airily-expansive, its merger with listening-room space verging on boundary-ignoring seamless. Case in point regarding the latter:The ensemble performing Decca/London's 1962 production of the John Lanchberry-conducted Herold-Lanchberry ballet, La fille mal gardée, is virtually breathing the same air I am. It's spooky...and more than welcome.
