Jim...congrats on the 808.3 . My suggestion is enjoy it as-is for now and you have plenty of time to consider the upgrade down the road once there is a little bit more feedback on the difference in SQ.

Like all things in audio what makes a big difference for one may not for another.
From the little reading I have done it appears that a few individuals had issues with the switching power supply. That in itself might make it worthwhile. I am not sue if we are going to be able to pick and choose which updates we want. I have heard differing opinions including all or nothing.

Thanks Cyril
I am visiting my brother in Texas so no more break in 'till next Tuesday.
I have a couple of other purchases I am considering before I decide whether to do the upgrade. Besides it sounds great right now.

Jim, I had a few HIFI Supreme fuses left over from my MCD1100 so I put one in the M 808v3 and it didn't take long to hear the difference, about 10 seconds, not bad for $60! I also replaced a Shunyata Diamondback for their new Sidewinder VTX. I admittedly was not expecting a big change but am now pleasantly surprised. One of the many great things about the M is its ability to play softly or loudly without strain or fatigue. Now with a better PC its even more so, I just can't believe how good it really is. For those unfamiliar with Meridian Digital y'all need to check them out!

How would you describe the difference noted in the sound with the fuse added?

Well....(me scratching my head) its like this, you know how after your system sounds better after a warm up. The HIFI fuse sounds like my system warmed up vs. the stock fuse is like a cold system. Don' t get me wrong its not a huge difference, but its enough to hear without an A/B. A nice touch, and with no apparent trade offs.

Hi
I have the 808.4 Anv that also came with stock low end tin fuse - I`ve change that to Hifitunings Supreme fuse. With my 861V6 with ID40 the ID 40 keept loosing network and I had to turn the 861 on and off all the time - Changed to Hifituning Supreme fuse and I never had to reboot again.
Tip make the arrow on the Hifituning fuse point out not into your 808, 818 or 861

PerS

I plan on comparing my 808.v3 to the MCD-1100 maybe this weekend. (Don't expect anything with Dan's thoroughness )

The update on the MCD-1100 is being completed as I write this and will be packed and shipped tomorrow.

I have been doing a lot of listening today and hope to post some of my thoughts later this weekend. I will give you a hint. This is a keeper.
