I can understand solid state amplifiers being left on 24/7 but I expect it would be wasteful to leave tube amplifiers on continuously. Some studios leave them on 24/7 and get good tube life but I'd be too anxious to do that. (Apart from the high cost of re-tubeing).

My system sounds very smooth after a couple of glasses of good red wine.
Without that, it isn't too bad either after 20 minutes.

I was standing next to him when I heard Dan D' Agostino tell one dealer to leave the amps on. I usually do with SS amps because to my ears they do sound smoother when left on. With that said I turn on my tubed preamp on when listening and it takes about 30 minutes. When I owned ARC tubed amps I would shut them off when not used.

System permanently on. Last switched off two years ago. I think it’s still improving!

One component with long stabilisation time is BVA oscillator which settles over 48 hours (or maybe a bit longer)

You work out so you can sit down.
Or, you work out your butt before you work out your ears.
Sounds funny! [emoji23]

I think all power amps need some "warm up" time to get to full bias or full operating rating, once the correct voltage is reached after pressing the On button. Bias builds gradually and you'd have to contact your mfg/designer to find out what the time might be based on the circuit topology.
Regardless, I think 20-30 minutes is more than enough time.

When I get home from work I turn on my integrated knowing that within an hour or two I will be playing some music. If you can pay attention you should hear some differences in dynamics/resolution/staging from 10 minutes to say 1 hour.

That seems to be my experience......

Cheers

You've got it about right. I work out so I can sit down [emoji23] but... my ears also get a mini workout by wireless headphones via a CD player. Gotta do that, its the only exercise I now get - its far too cold to go outside atm (for a 74y.o.)[emoji300]️[emoji300]️

I leave my DAC on continuously. The C1100 and MC 2301’s take about 30 minutes to hit their stride.

When I had solid state electronics it would take between 2 to 4 hours to stabilize, so I left it on. This seemed to be independent of brand.

Where available, everything is in Standby mode. If not, switched off. All SS currently.
